Point of Retreat (Slammed #2) by Colleen Hoover

“Love is the most beautiful thing in the world. Unfortunately, it’s also one of the hardest things in the world to hold on to, and one of the easiest things to throw away.”

Point of Retreat is a sequel to Slammed. Will and Layken are in a relationship after going through a lot of hardships. They have been strong about their feelings until someone else unexpectedly appears from the past. Someone who can total jeopardize their relationship.

The sequel still makes you gasps for air at times. How can you prove your love to someone who doesn’t even give you a chance to prove or refuse to listen to your words? Will doesn’t give in, Layken doesn’t give up, and both of them are in a predicament that can make them go through heart break again.

“I'm not giving up

You're not giving in

This battle will turn into a war

Before I let it come to an end.”

How can Will win over this indomitable Layken?

This is a 5/5 stars book. There isn’t a lot of slam poetries in this book but the story is real good. This book focuses more on the bonds that are being built and mended. In this book Colleen has given more life to the appearance of the brothers and their contribution to Will’s and Layken’s lives. I adored Kel and Caulder from the last book but this time I fell in love with them. They can’t be seen as kids anymore and they go through a lot as well. It was butterflying a fantastic book. My emotions were in a rollercoaster ride!

*********SPOILER ALERT*********

Kel having a crush on Kiersten, just makes me go AWEEE <3, he has become a grown up.  Kiersten is portrayed beautifully in this book. For her age is tough, bright and lovely. I hate when she get bullied but loved it when Kel and Caulder stood up for her. The friendship there makes me adore the trio. Loved Kiersten and Caulder slam poem. Kiersten’s poem was actually deep but funny because people were oblivious to what she was trying to put out there, except for some. Calder’s poem was so heart touching. I knew that his surprise would be him performing a slam but never though it will be about Will. Never thought he could write that beautifully. It was butterflyingly perfect. <3
