Prodigy (Legend #2)

“He pauses when he finishes undoing the last button, then closes his eyes. I can see the pain slashed across his face, and the sight tears at me. The Republic's most wanted criminal is just a boy, sitting before me, suddenly vulnerable, laying all his weaknesses out for me to see.”

This book is a sequel to the Legend by Marie Lu. June and Day are injured and they are on run. They travelled to the military city of Las Vegas to contact the patriots. They get to meet Kaede the patriot rebel. June and Day meet the head of the rebel group and join them for exchange for Day’s brothers life to be saved. To be able to save Day’s brother, June and Day must assassinate the new Elector. June is now the wanted traitor of the republic; Day has more to pawn in this game then being caught by the republic. The upcoming events leave you more in awe.

The characters are more developed in this book. Day and June have their own problems and there are times when they are unable to trust each other but they still got each other’s back. At times, the jealousy between the characters become so annoying that I want to smack them but then without jealousy how can the love and understanding develop.

“We're in this together, right?" he whispers. "You and me? You want to be here, yeah?" There's guilt in his questions. "Yes," I reply. "I chose this." Day pulls me close enough for our noses to touch. "I love you.”

At times, I really think Day is acting like a jerk. He doesn’t understand June as much as he should. There are also at times he doubts her and I really do feel like punching his face <realization strikes: He is just a fictional character.> On the other hand, June has been going through a lot. She was living a life of princess and to be able to adapt the life she has been given is a big deal. To run and hide always, I do feel bad for her.

“They’re making me so weak that I’m on the verge of collapsing to the floor. I’ve kissed a few boys in the past . . . but Day makes me feel like I’ve never been kissed before. Like the world has melted away into something unimportant.”

And there are times, when something romantic turns up in the chaos. This is sometimes frustrating but funny as well.  You are so into the scene that is full of tensions and BAMMM! Something romantic comes up. It’s sweet in a way but annoying as well. But I really think Day and June is a good match although they got their difference. “They are meant to be”..

“He is beauty, inside and out.
He is the silver lining in a world of darkness.
He is my light.”

The last part was OMG!!! I was upset, didn’t expect…Hell I was surprised! I never saw that coming or anything near that. Not like that.. Marie Lu didn’t prepare us for the ending!! And I am sure whoever is in love with the characters would feel the same. It felt like the whole world was crumpling before me but I couldn’t do anything to save it. Honestly, I had to reread the last part just to make sure I didn’t read it wrong. It was heart breaking but then that’s how the author wanted. I was upset.

I give this book 5 star. This book was a good sequel and I am not even a bit disappointed about the story. The last part made me upset but that’s what makes the story more interesting. Not everything goes the way you want; you can actually see that in this book.

Enjoy reading.

“Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love. It did not end well.”

Among the Echoes by Ali Maritnez

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

“Me: Why don't you ever practice on your balcony like you used to? This question gets me immediate eye contact from him, but it doesn't last. His eyes flicker across my face, down my body, and finally back to his phone.

Ridge: Why would I? You're not out there anymore.”

Sydney Blake is living her life happily. She is going to college and having a good job. She is having a wonderful boyfriend, Hunter and a friend, Tori who she lives with. Everything comes to an abrupt stop when she finds that Hunter has been cheating her Tori. She doesn’t know what to do any more.

Ridge Lawson is Sydney’s neighbor who plays music on the balcony. She is spellbound by his music and him. There is something to him that attracts Sydney. Ridge can’t stop thinking about Sydney either because there is something in her that makes Ridge pay attention to her. When both of meet there are inevitable things happen heartbreak and mending is on the way. How much can both of them put aside and how much can they
sacrifice?

<I don’t want to give more information in the summary because it’s really worth reading to know what is happening to both the sides. >

I totally give this book 5+++ stars. Colleen wrote such a powerful story again. Makes you want to keep reading. It was a very beautiful and powerful story. Her imaginations run really wild which makes the story so interesting. She connects two souls with music and makes them fall for each other, break their own hearts. What’s worse than not being able to have your loved one? Colleen made the book so emotional. There were good moments that made me smile but there were really sad moments which just made my emotions go wild. Not everything can go the way you want. Not everyone is lucky to have what they want. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

Origin (Lux novel#4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

“Did you think you could stop me? I'll burn the world down to save her.”

This Girl (Slammed #3) by Colleen Hoover

“You want to know my sweet?" I ask her.
She nods.
I kiss her on the forehead. "You. Always you.”

Opal (Lux novel#3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

“A slow, wry smile teased Daemon’s lips.”Simmer down, Kitten, before I have to get you a ball of yarn to play with."

Annoyance flared deep inside me. "Don’t start with me, jerk-face.”

My first impression after finishing:

WHATTT Just happened!!!
I wasn't ready for all that chaos to happen!!!
I knew that something was up but this is just too muchh!!!

The ending is just .......

It's like you got to exchange a person for another one...

DAMN, how the author does those twists just amazes me and I love it...

This is the third book to the Lux Series. Daemon and Kat are in relationship after going through a lot in the last book. There is a lot to do and surviving is something that is a must. Daemon and Kat together are so strong and there are obstacles that they should go through. Hatred is forming. Betrayal is coming their way. Figuring who to trust is so difficult.

“You really shouldn’t trust a soul in this game. Not when everyone has something to gain or lose.”
I can’t really give out a lot of information since it will be a spoiler. Got to read to know what’s happening and it’s a thrill ride. Sometimes your prediction is just so wrong (well mine was). Sometimes, everything just happens so fast that you have to re-read to make sure that you read it right.

This is definite 5/5 star and beyond. I loved this series a lot. Too many emotions and a lot to learn and go through. Kat’s personality gets stronger and stronger. Even at her weakest moment she can make good decisions and she is totally capable of keeping promises. I really love that about her. In this book, you can totally see her as a strong courageous women who is not scared to sacrifice her life for her loved ones. On the other hand, Daemon as always, PERFECT, actually PURRRRFEEECCTTT( hahahaha). He is stubborn and demanding as usual but it’s all for good sake and safety. I could totally see how much Daemon loves Kat and how much he will give up for her. It was really mind blowing and heart touching. This book really had my emotions on the rollercoaster ride and the last part totally made the rollercoaster go so fast the emotions were all mixed. Also, I loved how Jennifer still had witty dialogues as always. Usually, it’s difficult to keep your dialogues witty when the story gets a lot more serious but Jennifer did it.

“Kitten..." "Don't Kitten me." I scowled, on a roll now. "You left around five or so and didn't get back till when? Past two in the morning? What were you guys doing? And get that stupid smile off your face. This isn't funny." Daemon tried to get rid of the smile but failed. "I love when your claws come out.”

Obsidian (Lux novel#1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

“Why are you such an ass?" The words came out before I could think twice."Everyone has to excel at something, right?""Well, you're doing a great job.”

Seriously, the cover made me think a lot before picking this book. The cover for this book really sucks. I honestly think that there could have been a much cooler cover to present that it’s such a good story. I know they say that “Don’t judge a book by its cover” but it’s not going to happen always. I am glad that I pushed away my skepticism of how much the book is going to suck and started reading this book and I am glad I did it because I wouldn’t want to miss such a good series! I actually wonder how many passed the story of this book because of the cover. Ok let’s get to the story.

Obsidian is about aliens that are living in Earth. Aliens, who are living among human, look exactly like humans, actually much better than humans. No ears sticking out. They don’t have a green body; you could say they look amazing.

“Aliens—if they exist—are little green men with big eyes and spindly arms or…or giant insects or something like a lumpy
little creature.” Daemon let out a loud laugh. “ET?”
“Yes! Like ET, asshole. I’m so glad you find this funny.”
Katy Swartz, a seventeen year old girl has moved to West Virginia right before her senior year. Everything just sucks for her. She rather be stuck in her room with her laptop doing what she loves and be a boring person. Things start to heat up after she met he next door neighbor, Daemon.

“So the dickhead had a name. Daemon—seemed fitting. And of course his sister would be as attractive as him. Why not? Welcome to WestVirginia, the land of lost models.”
Daemon Black is hot but he is arrogant. Irritating. Egoistic and more.  When Katy and Daemon meets it’s just like a bomb has exploded, it’s not love at first sight but hate at first sight. Something unexpectedly happens when a stranger attacks Katy and Daemon saves her. Katy discovers that Daemon Black is an alien and she has to be stuck with him if she wants to live. She has to be stuck with him until she is not glowing anymore. What happens when some you hate has to take care of you?

“In your dreams, Kitten." He smirked. "Oh wait, I'm already starring in those, aren't I?"I rolled my eyes."Nightmares, Daemon. Nightmares.”

This book is a 5/5 star book. It was a fast paced book! I absolutely loved the story and the characters. I never thought that I will fall in love with an alien, but the aliens in this novel are just SMOKING HAWWT. Hahaha. I loved the relationship between Daemon and Katy. Although, there was hate and they wanted to strangle each other, when the time came they could help each other and get through the trouble. Katy was such a badass. She was such a strong headed girl. She didn’t back down even when Daemon threatened her. Although, she became scared and all she stood up to him. She was a sincere person. Daemon, oh my GOD! He is just a perfect alien. I am swooning just by thinking about him. He is a jackass but he is like that because of the past events. He is sweet in his own way. Very protective and possessive. No matter how arrogant he seems you just love him. But at times I really wanted to smack him for being so mean to Katy. You could see a constant bickering from Daemon and Katy. This book made me laugh a lot and sometimes rage as well.

you will understand this picture after you have read the book.

Cheers!

The False Prince(Ascendance Trilogy#1) by Jennifer A.Nielsen

"A person can be educated and still be stupid, and a wise man can have no education at all."

The False Prince is the first book to "The Ascendance Trilogy". The book is packed with thrill, suspense, action, deceit, and some twists and turns.

This book is about a civil war emerging in an unstable kingdom, where the royal family has been murdered. To stable the kingdom the noble man of the court, Conner concocts a plan of searching for a boy who could be an impersonator of the king's long lost son to be the prince and who could play as his puppet.

Conner picks four kids from the orphanage to compete for the role. The orphan named Sage is being reluctant to do this and he knows there are ulterior motives to Conner's plan but he must abide to it because his life is in the line. Sage has to obey Conner in order to live or die if he defies and the choice belongs to him. To survive he must compete and the other orphans as well. As Sage agrees to participate in this dangerous game of impersonating a prince, Conner's motives were slowly being unfolded. The more it went on, what became a lie turned out to be the truth and the game was played by the devil.

“Hail His Majesty, the scourge of my life," Conner said to Roden and Tobias as he stomped up the stairs. "I fear the devils no longer, because I have the worst of them right here in my home!”

I would give this book 5/5 star. It was a great and thrilling read, although the cover makes it look boring.. I could not put the book down until I finished it. As soon as I finished it, I had to continue with the next one. It was breath taking. When I read this book I felt my mind playing games, imagining myself in Sage’s situation and thinking what would it be like to carry out his actions. I even learned that sometimes the most stupid ideas we think of can get us out of the situation easier than having the most brilliant one.

Point of Retreat (Slammed #2) by Colleen Hoover

“Love is the most beautiful thing in the world. Unfortunately, it’s also one of the hardest things in the world to hold on to, and one of the easiest things to throw away.”

Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days #1) by Susan Ee

I am sure you have heard of zombie apocalypse, how about an angel apocalypse? Yes, the heavenly creatures who are supposed to be good and divine are destructing the world.

In all this chaos, Penryn the seventeen year old human girl who wanted to survive this apocalypse with her mother and sister gets sucked in the problem because the warrior angels has captured her sister and she will stake anything to save her sister from those divine beings. Even if she has to befriend an angel

On the other hand, Raffe is a warrior who has lost his wings in a fight and is lying in a death state. Penryn rescues him and in return she wants to know the location of her sister.

Together they travel and rely on each other for their own benefits of getting what they want. They are not stopping until they have got what they want and they don’t mind killing whoever stands in their way. Penryn to the rescue of her sister and Raffe to get back his wings.

Different mission yet the same destination. What the destiny unravels for them stays a surprise.

I totally loved this book, 5/5 ratings. It was mind blowing and I couldn’t keep the book down. I had to continue reading the book cause there were so many things that you could look forward to. Sometimes, you would feel like smacking the angel but you want to hug him too. There will be many mixed feeling you will have regarding this human and angel relationship. The dialogues in this books will crack you up at times and even roll your eyes. I enjoyed the talks between Penryn and Raffe. You don't want a heavenly creature to be a devil because it is really scary. I really recommend this book!!

Cheers!

Slammed (Slammed, Book#1) by Colleen Hoover

This book will just suck you in and you will totally understand slam poetry. If you have no idea what it means you will grab the idea by just reading it. If you have an idea about it you will start loving it. If you already love it, you are going to love it more.
5/5 stars! Actually more than 5!

This book has beautifully portrayed how a relationship takes places by using slam poetry and has given a lot of ideas in different aspects of life

“According to the thesaurus... and according to me... there are over thirty different meanings and substitutions for
the word
mean.
(I quickly yell the following words; the entire class flinches- including Will)
Jackass, jerk, cruel, dickhead, unkind, harsh, wicked,
hateful, heartless, vicious, virulent, unrelenting, tyrannical, malevolent, atrocious, bastard, barbarous, bitter, brutal, callous, degenerate, brutish, depraved, evil, fierce, hard, implacable, rancorous, pernicious, inhumane, monstrous, merciless, inexorable.
And my personal favorite—asshole.”

This book is about an eighteen year old teenage girl who moves from Texas to Michigan. Due to her father’s death and moving, she has been affected a lot. Although, she appears to be tough, she is breaking down.

When she moves in the first day, she meets Will and his younger brother Caulder. They are her news neighbors. Although, it was only the first day, Layken’s brother, Kel seemed to get along with Caulder. After some days with Will, Layken starts to mend the broken pieces.
Will and Layken have their first memorable date which was precious for both of them. But they never knew what was a head of them, never knew what the fate has planned for them. When something slammed to both their faces and they have to take back a step, the situation brought an abrupt stop to their relationship.  Layken goes back to feel broken and Will who doesn’t know how to deal with the issue. Everything becomes difficult between them and they both are finding their ways out of it.

I really loved this book a lot. It talks to you in a very personal level and makes you realize many things(it did for me). It sucked me in that I couldn’t stop reading it. I had my finals the next day but I still had to finish this book because I couldn’t really pay attention to anything else. It keeps making you think what slam poetry will come up next, what will happen next and some twists and turns that makes you gasp. The slam poetry that will totally make you fall in love with them and maybe you might start talking like it. I really recommend to this book. It was an amazing story. Each part of the story will make you feel something, especially fluttering and swooning!!

“I got schooled this year

A boy that I'm seriously, deeply, madly, incredibly, and undeniably inlove with.
And he taught me the most important thing of all...
