Legend (Legend#1) by Marie Lu

If you want to rebel, rebel from inside the system. That’s much more powerful than rebelling outside the system.

This is a MUST READ book, if you like books that have mischievous characters, books that have characters with criminal mind that work on total awesome plans and they are just teenagers. Moreover, characters with great development and having great achievements. This might be a book with teenage characters but I must say it is a book that will captivate your heart.

This book is about a how two teenage characters from different status/rank who found out things that will jeopardize their lives but will save the country and the citizens. Their journey on how will they be able to stand against a big army against them.

“It’s strange being here with you. I hardly know you. But…sometimes it feels like we’re the same person born into two different worlds.“
Synopsis: What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias's death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets. (Credits : Goodreads)

“Each day means a new twenty-four hours. Each day means everything's possible again. You live in the moment, you die in the moment, you take it all one day at a time." He looks toward the railway car's open door, where streaks of dark water blanket the world. "You try to walk in the light.”
DAMN! As I said, the characters are awesome. Metias’s character was awesome just by the little detail we got from the sorry. It was such a waste that he was murdered. I would have loved his company more but to develop the story, the author was cruel enough to kill off the brother. (L, I am sad ok! That’s why I said cruel!). June! OMG! Although, she is a girl, she has the wittiness girls usually don’t. She is so brave and focused on what she is doing. At times, she doesn’t think enough but she is loyal to herself and he thoughts. She doesn’t waver easily and she knows what she is doing. I totally adore her. At times, I actually shouted saying “HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE?” but then her brother died so she wants revenge!. Well, she is vengeful but doesn’t mean she becomes blind towards the facts. She is smart and brave. A girl you can totally trust and have as a partner.

OMG, Day! He is a slum guy but he is super handsome! He is doing things for his family and you can totally see how much he is going through.  He doesn’t care about his life as much as he does for his family. He is surviving for his family and he will do anything for them. Things happen in this book that tears my heart apart but that isn’t even the end. Day plans things like no others. He got tactics that might be dangerous but won’t let you get caught. He is just bloody brilliant for his age and his criminal mind can be used for a better purpose.

“He is beauty, inside and out. He is the silver lining in a world of darkness. He is my light.”
By seeing my review, you can actually guess the stars I will give the book..DUH!! 5 Stars! I really appreciate the author for killing off the characters and breaking the reader’s heart. You read the book and in a whim characters are killed and your emotion is in a rollercoaster ride. You don’t know whether you have to be sad or happy in a moment because it gets so confusing. When you feel like grieving, you actually can’t because something GOOD happens too! What am I supposed to feel? LOL. The author sorta shows that when something bad happens there is good in it too.  Just grab this book and try reading it…be captivated by its awesomeness.

Cheers J
